PhD programme in Materials Science and Engineering - NTNU.
III. PhD DEGREE IN MATERIALS SCIENCE AND ENGINEERING A. Residency and Course Load The minimum residence requirement for the PhD degree is eight consecutive quarters, including summer, at Northwestern. Course and 590 (research) units should total to four each quarter. Part-time students may study for the PhD in Materials Science and Engineering.
The PhD in Materials Science trains researchers to be able to satisfactorily initiate and complete original, innovative and quality research. The research must take the form of a PhD thesis.
Welcome to the School of Engineering and Materials Science. The School of Engineering and Materials Science (SEMS) provides outstanding degree programmes coupled with internationally leading research which is reflected in all our undergraduate programmes. Our taught postgraduate programmes are similarly first class and provide students with a fantastic opportunity to engage with cutting-edge.
Materials science and engineering focuses on the synthesis, processing, properties, and applications of engineering materials—from the production of primary metals to the development of microelectronic nanomaterials with novel properties. Michigan Tech granted its first PhD in Metallurgy in 1934.
PhD Subject: Thermomechanical properties of refractory materials, influence of the diffuse microcracking.
The Applied Physics and Materials Science PhD program, with institutional support, will have a launch date of Fall, 2019. This new academic plan will be supported within the College of Engineering, Informatics and Applied Sciences, however academic mentors to PhD students will be from units within CEAIS and CEFNS.
PhD Subject: Microstructural analysis of oxide nanostructured materials through in situ, high temperature X-ray scattering using synchrotron radiation.
