Many factors lead to Absolute Monarchy in France, and the style of Absolute Monarchy under Louis XIV differed from traditional Absolute Monarchy.

A strategy that Louis XIV used to control the French nobility was using the palace of Versailles. In this palace, Louis XIV made the nobles live so that he could keep an eye on them at all times. Also he made them focus on things like who would put Louis XIV's shoes on in the morning and had them focus on going to parties instead of conspiring against him.
